Jul. 18th, 2014 02:29 pm Making a Difference and Changing the World.

The act of creating this blog post has made a difference in your life: if I didn't create it, you wouldn't read it and your life would've been a little different.

It also changing the world: the world without my post is apparently not exactly the same as the world with my post, therefore transition from one to another is a change.

Have you Made a Difference and Changed the World today?

Btw, there's another brilliant way to make a difference.

Let me make one:

But I doubt you can claim credit for that! :)

You think farting is more important difference because it's also sharing something? ;)

So do I share things. My hair, for example, can be found basically everywhere. It is made available for the others!

And sick people are among the best sharers! :)

Depends on the particular sickness I believe.

No, because you have no control over being brought to this world (it was the parents' changing the world), but you have at least some control over your own farting.

Oh, I do have the control over my existence. I can terminate it basically at my own will. Should I be willing to stop changing the world altogether, I do know one solution (-:

It's not about getting credit. It's about Making The Difference!

It was your parents making the difference by making you.

Initially they've made the difference indeed! But now I continue their vigil by making it myself.
(If I wouldn't stand up for the task I'd die and eventually stop making the difference after all the decay processes would have completed)

"and eventually stop making the difference after all the decay processes would have completed"

I think that requires a strict definition of the completion status of the decay process, and also a strict definition of what's "I".

Certain definitions may enable you making unlimited difference even after your death ;)

Definitely. But this wasn't my point (-: He denied me the acknowledgement of my role in the changes!

Well, if you ask me about tracing the "cause->effect" chain, I don't think the root leave (The Creator?) should take the entire credit. I am more in favor of inclusive definition, e.g.: every intermediate step is responsible for everything that follows (inc. transitively).

This will almost inevitably put you and everyone into "making unlimited difference forever" situation :)

Well, I hope you give me enough credit to be able to see same cause sequence with the root node on the top causing everything furthermore. This is exactly what stopped me from accepting the argument. Though I wouldn't support the inclusive definition suggested by you either.

I would think that the control, as pointed by archaicos, is the key factor in determining the role. Meaning, you made the change if this was within your control and the change was introduced through you otherwise.
