You sound like you have slightly different priorities than I do.
My priority is NOT to strive for super-duper mega quality shots. My priority is *convenience*, while shots are not "crappy" but "good" to "very good" (not necessarily super-duper), and with the kind of exposition that I want. I don't mind editing in lightroom just to fix for fisheye effect (like preload lens profile and click a button? I don't know, never tried it. But I expect it to be simple), but manually gluing multiple shots together for a panorama shot - definitely not worth it.
Yes, dynamic scenes at wide shots are quite often: unfortunately there is no automatic filtering for unwanted people, cars and birds, even if I only need architecture or landscape :)
