That's less than I spent last year to ensure my file server capacity and performance on an array of regular drives plus SSD logs and caches.
I think best home server config today for file storage is anything where you can plug a bunch of SSD drives in JBOD, plus some sort of continuous back-up on something like 8TB archival disks, plus software checksum management and checking (I yet have to find a good one or create it myself). The actual box can have minimum RAM, minimum CPU, minimum caching. With SSDs it will still saturate 1GBit connection easily and provide nice random IOPS.
